Dancers will focus on working on one leg, transitioning weight effectively, proper alignment, efficient use of arms, strengthening and flexibility. Combinations will include more advanced elements, challenging transitions, use of extension, faster tempos, and turns. Dancers will work on strengthening exercises to prepare them to test for pointe shoes in December.
Dancers will work to increase extension, improve artistry, add beats and turns in more intricate combinations, and increase stamina and strength.
Dancers will start class with a center barre and then transition to advanced center combinations. Dancers will work on quicker, more challenging transitions, multiple turns, and more advanced steps such as brisé, cabriole, and fouetté turns.
Dancers will continue to work on connecting elements, transferring weight cleanly, and traveling in sequences. Emphasis will be placed on smoothly transitioning to and from pointe while executing turns, piqués, and simple one leg work. Dancers will learn one classical variation each semester.
Dancers will work on multiple pirouettes, arabesque turns, développés, ballonné, hops on pointe, and focus on more challenging sequences. Dancers will also learn a minimum of 2 classical variations during the semester.
Dancers will focus on foundational jazz technique while working to become stronger storytellers through dance. Class will begin with a set warm up, and a variety of across the floor combinations Each month, dancers will learn a combination from a Broadway or movie musical, and learn about the history and storyline.
Dancers will work on becoming stronger storytellers through dance by working on classical jazz technique, exploring different dance styles and learning choreography from various musicals. Dancers will work on mastering more advanced jazz technique including fouetté turns and switch leaps. Dancers will learn a new combination each month.
Students work on acting techniques, explore emotions, and relationships through group and solo activities. They are exposed to basic musical theatre jazz technique, basic tap, and will perform a scene from a Broadway show at the end of the season.
Dancers will explore the brilliant technique and style of the legendary Luigi. Class will start with a set warm up inspired by Luigi and the equally legendary Berle Davis. Dancers will learn a center combination or conditioning exercises to strengthen their technique and increase flexibility.
Combinations will focus on building musicality and a basis for rhythm. Students will be exposed to all styles of tap while focusing on clean technique, separated sounds, and developing one's individual artistry. Combinations will be adapted to accommodate each individual's level.
